Abstract

Motivation is one aspect that can determine the success or failure of a student-driven learning process. The lack of student motivation to learn in class is because teachers still use conventional learning media resulting in students feeling lazy and sleepy in the learning process. Based on the background of this research, this research aims to analyze the influence of stick puppet visual media on the social studies learning motivation of fourth grade elementary school students in the Sunyaragi sub-district, Cirebon City. In this research, researchers used the True-experimental method with a pretest-posttest group design. The population in this study were several elementary schools in the Sunyaragi sub-district, totaling 104 students. The results of this research show that: (1) Based on simple linear results, it produces a sig value of 0.001, meaning < 0.05, so is accepted and the motivation variable has an influence on social studies learning motivation after using the visual stick puppet media. (2) Based on the results, N gain obtained an average value of 0.6204 which is located in the medium score n gain 0,6204 which means this research shows the medium category. So 2 is accepted and there is effectiveness in the visual media of stick puppets in social studies learning.
